Rai Allen Biography

Rai Allen Photography is an independent/freelancing business. Rai is also known as Hieu Nguyen in his native Vietnamese. Rai originally was a reporter who worked for many different magazines in Vietnam since 2007. In 2010, he arrived in Canada to further his education, graduating from the 2-year Diploma Music and Digital Media program at St. Lawrence College. The program included many different aspects of music and digital media including music, video production, video editing, photography, photo editing, fundamental art, animation, and audio recording. Rai quickly found his love and passion in photography, streaming himself in this direction.

Rai is primarily interested in people photography. He spends most of his time focused on perfecting his photography skills in this category, particularly on lighting techniques. During the past 3 years, he was hired by many different organizations in Kingston and overseas including Canadian Forces Base Kingston, St. Lawrence College, Queen’s University, Pathway to Education Canada, and the City of Kingston, as well local clients in Kingston and the surrounding area. Overseas, Rai had an opportunity to work with high-profile projects such as Vietnam’s Next Top Model, Vietnam Idol, and Project Runway. His work was published in at least 20 different magazines in Vietnam. His extended achievements also include runner-up winner from PhotoNews Magazine Contest 2015 and recently his work was published on Vogue Italy Magazine Online Edition.
